Dalam studi PhD ini, saya meneliti kehidupan sehari-hari para pelaku kreatif di Indonesia, khususnya mereka yang bergerak di subsektor kriya dan fesyen. Saya mengeksplorasi bagaimana pelaku kreatif memanfaatkan keterampilan, pengetahuan, sumber daya, dan berbagai hal lainnya dalam membangun pekerjaannya, serta bagaimana para pelaku kreatif ini terlibat—atau memilih untuk tidak terlibat—dengan program-program pemerintah. Proyek ini juga mempertimbangkan bagaimana akses yang tidak merata serta ketimpangan yang saling bersilangan (intersecting inequalities) membentuk kerja kreatif dan interaksi mereka dengan kebijakan.
Oleh karena itu, minat penelitian saya mencakup kebijakan budaya dan industri kreatif, seni dan budaya, industri budaya dan kreatif, serta ekonomi kreatif, dengan fokus khusus pada bidang kuliner, kriya, dan desain, serta cara-cara ketimpangan mempengaruhi dan membentuk proses penciptaan karya kreatif dan partisipasinya.
My PhD research examines the everyday lives of creative workers in Indonesia, especially those working in the craft and fashion subsectors. I explore how they draw on skills, knowledge, resources, and many more in building their work, and how they engage—or choose not to engage—with government programmes. The project also considers how uneven access and intersecting inequalities shape creative work and encounters with policy.
Thus my research interests include cultural policy, arts and culture, cultural and creative industries and the creative economy, with a particular focus on culinary arts, crafts, and design, as well as the ways inequality shapes cultural production and participation.
