Walking Meditations

Body

These meditations are designed to be listened to whilst walking certain routes to encourage you to get outside and practice mindfulness, facilitated by May Riddell.

Tips for walking meditations

These meditations can be used anywhere you feel comfortable walking. Here are a few tips to be aware of before you start:

  • Ensure you are dressed accordingly for the weather.
  • Your phone is charged.
  • You have your earphones.
  • Take a few deep slow breaths before you start.
  • Volume- keep it at a level where you can hear other things like traffic etc.
  • Stay alert to any dangers when you are walking, like potholes and other obstacles that may be in your path.
  • Try your best to listen to the guide and enjoy the walk.
  • It’s ok if the mind wanders, just bring it back when you become aware of this.
  • Try not to judge yourself if you lose concentration.  As soon as you realise this has happened, bring your attention back to the walk and the guide.
  • Keep practising this guided meditation. Practice does not make perfect, but it does make us better. If this meditation seems too challenging, try a shorter recording and work your way up.
  • Enjoy!
