We bring perspectives and approaches from numerous academic disciplines to the most challenging and important issues confronting society. We conduct independent, high-quality research on issues including social security, public health, employment and labour markets, education, gender equality, families, and political and civic participation. We are equally concerned with the structures and processes of government and with how they can be made more resilient in the 21st century. We place a strong emphasis on collaborating with practitioners and policymakers.

Our policy expertise and our rigorous approach to research shape the way we work with our students. We aim to provide students with the theoretical tools, analytical skills, and substantive knowledge needed to tackle major domestic and global policy challenges. Our diverse student body reflects our international research interests.
