Poverty and stigma – the elephants in the room for lone parents

This is the inaugural lecture in the new annual lecture series in memory of Julie-Ann Macqueen, an alumna of the Diploma in Social Studies at the University of Edinburgh.

This lecture is delivered by Prof. Morag Treanor and looks at two key issues affecting lone parents: poverty and stigma. These issues have been around for a long time and, in spite of the work to advance the outcomes of lone parents and their children, continue to be the elephants in the room of policy and practice.
