Background

Sarah Pajeau is a PhD candidate in International Development at the Centre of African Studies. Her doctoral research focuses on Rohingya experiences of belonging and identity reconstruction in the aftermath of genocide. 

Sarah’s professional background is in non-profit management, refugee rights, and community health. Prior to joining the University of Edinburgh for her doctoral studies, Sarah worked with non-governmental organizations in Chicago, USA, supporting resettled refugees. Her previous research areas include barriers in the U.S. refugee resettlement process, mental health access for Chicago residents with limited English proficiency, the mental health impacts of prolonged detention, and trauma-informed care practices in refugee support work.
