The FRIED student network
Content
The FRIED student network is the student-led arm of FRIED and is co-convened by two PhD students from the University of Edinburgh.
- Kirsty Blair (Co-Convenor)
-
Kirsty Blair is based in the School of Geosciences and the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Systems. Her research explores the role of values and framing in informing transformational pathways in the livestock sector.
- Guillem Rubio Ramon (Co-Convenor)
-
Guillem Rubio Ramon is based in the School of Geosciences. His research focuses on animal agriculture in Catalonia and Scotland to map the entanglements between cultural nationhood, economic motivations, local ecologies, and the lives of animals.
The network aims to create a space where members of the student community can exchange ideas and tips, addressing the particular needs and questions that are relevant to early career stages. It is open to any postgraduate student of the University of Edinburgh and other institutions whose research focus lies around Food Studies.
The group activities include monthly informal meetings where we will discuss a monthly theme (this could be a research project, methodological challenge, news event, or a recent article/publication etc.) followed by social drinks. As part of the FRIED seminar series, there will also be regular Q&As held with researchers to ask about their methods and academic journey. Follow us on Twitter to stay up-to-date about our events. See details of previous and upcoming events below. For more details and to book click here.
